Shredvotion 2-11-16

Good morning shredders and Happy Thursday! Today's shredvotion is about Justin Wren. Justin is a former UFC Heavyweight contender. He competed on The Ultimate Fighter and currently has a contract with Bellator MMA. Although Justin's fight career is impressive on its own the most impactful part of his life has been his involvement with an organization called Fight for the Forgotten. After sustaining an injury during his mma career Justin took a trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo. Upon visiting the country Justin was moved by the struggles that the indigenous Pygmy tribes were enduring. The Pygmy's are plagued with adversity from all fronts. They are even eaten by some tribes with thought that they bring magical powers to the consumer. Their land is taken. They are killed or often enslaved. After his first visit Justin felt compelled to help. He used his connections and platform as a fighter to help start "Fight for the forgotten" His organization uses multiple resources to help buy back land for the Pygmy people as well as build water wells within Congo. He refocused his energy to be a source of light for a group of people that many people shunned. He even received a nickname from the tribes "The big Pygmy" We as shredders can learn a lot from his example and remember that not everyone is as fortunate as us. He has dedicated most of his time to living in Congo now and building water wells. He returns to America occasionally to fight in Bellator and donates his winnings to building water wells and expanding his charity. Justin is one of the most empowering I've ever heard of. If you are at all interested in his cause check out

Have a wonderful day family. I hope you can find some time to listen to Justin's story on your own. I hope that it motivates you in your own shred to find avenues and paths to help the world around you. Enjoy the warmth it brings you and never forget
