Shredvotion 3-2-16
Good morning shredders and happy Wednesday! Today's shredvotion is about Jesse Owens. Jesse was a famous Track and Field Athlete on the U.S Olympic team during the 30's. He started his notoriety at Ohio State University where he earned 4 world records in 100 yard dash, long jump, 220 yard sprint, and 220 yard low hurdles. He continued his career to the 1936 Berlin Olympics. An event that Hitler was attempting to portray to the world his ideas of Aryan supremacy. During the games Jesse won 4 gold medals. He was champion of the 100m sprint, Long jump, 200m sprint, and the 4x100m relay. He was also the first African American man to receive an Adidas sponsorship during the games. Jesse was an incredible athlete. In the face of incredible adversity he was able to put on a superior performance that daunted the face of bigotry and racism. His shred transcended far beyond awards and medals. It left a lasting impression to this day. We as shredders can learn a lot from Jesse. To face all adversity no matter what and stay true to ourselves. It's a wonderful day family! I hope that Jesse's story can help put some fire in your feet today. Enjoy the race and never forget
